How long does a WAC test take?

Standard tests take

  • 5-Day turn-around-time on a Single-Stage WAC 
  • 7-Day turn-around-time on a 2-Stage WAC 

What is waste acceptance criteria?

The Waste Acceptance Criteria are detailed in Part 3 of the Landfill Regulations 2004 (Statutory Instrument No 1375) as amended by the Landfill Regulations 2005. Wastes may only be accepted at landfill if they meet the criteria for any of the following landfill types:

  • Inert
  • Non-Hazardous
  • Hazardous

The testing includes the analysis of the solid waste for:

  • TOC
  • LOI
  • BTEX
  • PCBs (7 congeners)
  • TPH 
  • PAHs
  • Acid Neutralisation Capacity

Additionally, it includes the analysis of leachates obtained from the BS EN 12457 leach tests. (Either single-stage BS EN 12457–2 or two-stage BS EN 12457–3) for:

  • Metals
  • Anions (Chloride, Fluoride, Sulphate)
  • Total Dissolved Solids
  • Phenols
  • Dissolved Organic Carbon
