HAUC @ Harrogate is one of the North of England’s premier Street and Roadworks events. The annual event, (held once again at the Pavilions of Harrogate in the Great Yorkshire Showground) took place on 8th June 2017 and represents an opportunity for more than 50 contractors and suppliers to showcase their products and services.
The event was well attended with representatives from Local Authorities such as Barnsley, Kirklees, Middlesbrough, Doncaster, Newcastle & Sunderland Councils, utilities companies such Openreach & O’Connor Utilities and many other contractors, suppliers and designers.
This event was a perfect opportunity for the Construction Testing Solutions team (Paul Nodder – Laboratory Director, Richard Webb – Business Development Manager & James Whitworth – Section Manager) to showcase our recently accredited bituminous coring services to the utilities and highways project audience, along with other established services such as aggregates testing.
The HAUC event is free to attend for delegates and brings together a variety of contractors, commissioners and industry experts to discuss the latest Road and Street Works issues. This year’s event focussed on the theme of “performance” and included a free seminar session and round table discussions on topics such as safety, innovation, inspection and noticing.
The Highway Authorities and Utilities Committee (HAUC) was established in 1986 by the constituent bodies of the local Highway Authorities and the Utilities to assist the Secretary of State in arriving at proposals for new street works legislation. HAUC played a significant role in the drawing up of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), its subsidiary legislation and associated Codes of Practice.
