Phil is our CEO. He joined the business in December 2020 and is a senior executive with over 25 years’ experience across a wide range of businesses and sectors.
Phil has led teams in many different industries including food manufacturing, certification, pharmaceutical testing and more recently in food, and water testing and has had roles in many critical functions including operations, commercial, technical and leadership development.
He has a proven track record of undertaking numerous business turnarounds and delivering significant year on year sustainable financial performance improvement. Originally with a technical background Phil has led multi-million pound capital investment projects, M&A activity in numerous sectors and has experience of working in both private equity and PLC environments.
Phil enjoys sport more so watching now than participating but remains a keen cyclist and golfer. He is a keen rugby union fan but still gets time to keep an eye on his home football team of Grimsby Town.
Richard is an experienced CFO with over 20 years’ experience in senior finance roles across many different B2B sectors. He has worked across both Blue-Chip companies (Deloitte/Severn Trent Plc) and more recently in successfully growing SME businesses. With his extensive knowledge and experience he is able to ensure first class financial reporting and control and is a key driver of business performance.
He joined CTS in May 2020 and has been a key driver behind the recent Growth strategy with a focus on both acquisitive and organic growth.
Outside of work, he is a keen sports follower, especially football, cricket and golf. He enjoys time with his family and friends and admits he is also a keen, if erratic golf player.
Kev co-founded Construction Testing Solutions in 2007, seeing the company grow from three people during its early beginning, to the current 450 strong workforce it is today. He is a self-driven character whose autonomous approach in all aspects of the business is key to his role as Chief Operating Officer and indeed the success thus far of CTS.
His simple understanding of what the client needs and how to give it to them is readily communicated to one and all. He has an inability to say NO and yet always delivers – this ethos now installed to the entire management team.

Kev spends his spare time rocking the drums in his band COP UK who are regularly playing prestigious venues and festivals across Europe.
As the HR Director for Construction Testing Solutions, Carolyn joined the company in January 2018 originally working for both CET and CTS in a dual role. She successfully established the HR department and having now been with the company for over three years, she leads the HR function across all 16 sites.
She is an experienced Human Resources professional with a demonstrable history of working in a variety of industries. She is extremely passionate about wellbeing and mental health and in March 2020 secured the award for Best Employee Engagement Initiative at the LV GI Claims Partner Awards, based on its investment in Mental Health Awareness over the prior 12 months with the Let’s Talk Campaign.
When not working Carolyn enjoys reading a wide variety of books, from mental health and business-related books, to psychological thrillers where she easily goes through one a week. She also loves the theatre and live events with favourites being Chicago, Les Misérables, Prince and Black Eyed Peas.
